It has been a bit of a tough week so far, and it's only Tuesday! Yesterday I found out that I was too late to apply for a job that I really wanted and then I found out I was also too late to apply for my dream training course and will have to wait 6 months until the next application process. A lesson in organisation right there.

On Sunday I went to help out on an allotment in Richmond. It's a really lovely patch, there were never any flowers planted but nevertheless foxgloves, poppies and nasturtiums seem to have grown up all by themselves, no doubt their seeds were carried over on the wind.

I spent the day picking (and eating) strawberries and ended up taking home close to 1.5kg, due to become jam very shortly. It dawned on me that I have never lived in a property with a garden, perhaps this is the reason why I am so obsessed with them! I would love a little patch of my own one day but for now I am happy with our tiny balcony, indoor growing and the odd visit to other people's allotments.

  3. Oh, I posted a comment before I read the text, it's not your garden, my mistake. I live in the property with garden and I'm obsessed with it anyway, so that's not the reason why you are:)

  4. A forbidden foxglove - brilliant. And wonderful strawberries, I intend to go picking soon. I just made a batch of jam - rhubarb, ginger and lime, it was very exciting! Hope you enjoy yours!

  5. We did have a garden when I was younger and so I find it hard to live without here. I so hope that I will have a garden in the future again. This allotment garden looks wonderful! Also the strawberries! So nice that you make some jam :)

  6. Lovely pictures! The strawberries look delicious, you can't get fresher than that! There's a nice farm for strawberry picking not far from where I live... It would be a great thing to do with my kids one of these days... Thanks for the idea!

  7. Your first paragraph about the lesson in organisation sounded so very familiar - that could have been me.
You got to take that huge basket home? Amazing! I remember the last time I did a proper strawberry picking was back in my toddler times, trawling my grandparents' garden for hours. It really is nice to have your own little garden patch.
I'm looking forward to your strawberry jam!

  11. The little patch is lovely. Sometimes a not so much tendered garden gets his own touch.

Sorry to hear that you missed two times the application for things you really want.
Waiting can be so hard to bear. Do not stop looking and asking for things you want - dream big - your chance will come!

Have you ever heard of Grundtvig? I think they might have some workshop you could enjoy. Just google it - needs some search. I am thinking about taking one next year.

hope you will find a good job and that the coming six months will go by fast so you can apply again for your dream training course, what kind of course will it be ?

    1. That was such a shame because I was sure you would of made such a lovely garden. I hope you find a patch soon. The waiting lists here are long too, sometimes more than 100 people waiting for a patch. Thank you, I hope so! The course was for a year to train in botanical horticulture, a big career change but something I could really see myself doing.
